Eligibility Criteria:

Annual grants are awarded to selected art educators to support innovative, educator-led projects that strengthen how art is taught and learned in public and private elementary and secondary schools, as well as institutions of higher education in the U.S. Funding supports classroom-based action research focused on improving art education practice, including: (1) Curriculum Models that develop or refine what and how students learn, (2) Pilot Projects that test new instructional approaches, and (3) Policy Models that explore systems or practices impacting art education. While materials or equipment may be included, proposals should clearly demonstrate how the project advances teaching, learning, or curriculum rather than serving as a standalone purchase.The NAEF Grant Program is open to NAEA members with at least one year of continuous membership prior to application. For the October 1, 2026 deadline, applicants must have been members since October 2025 with no lapses. State or provincial associations and NAEA-recognized special issues groups are also eligible to apply. NAEA members may not apply on behalf of the nonprofit organization or institution where they work.
