Artists in Schools (AIS) Grant

Public and private nonprofit K–12 schools, school districts, PTO/PTA groups, tribal nonprofits and tribes, and nonprofit Local Arts Partners working in partnership with schools or districts

Funding Amount:

Typically awards funding in the range of approximately $1,000 to $15,000, with individual school projects often funded up to about $5,000 and district‑wide or larger residency projects receiving up to about $15,000.

Eligibility Criteria:

Eligibility for the Artists in Schools (AIS) Grant is open to applicants proposing a residency of two weeks or more in an Alaska K–12 school that provides meaningful arts experiences for students, teachers, and the broader community. Successful proposals will demonstrate how the residency augments the arts curriculum and Alaska State Arts Standards, connects to other core subject areas, includes a professional development opportunity for teachers, and fosters engagement between the school and community. Applicants are strongly encouraged to work with teaching artists from the Alaska Statewide Teaching Artist Roster (STAR), and first-time applicants must contact the program administrator prior to submitting an application.
