The Glass Source Stained glass gifts and supplies

ARTIST: Teri Neville, Portland, Oregon

Teri Neville works not just for herself, but for the future of her art. Teri is a teacher. She teaches adults from her store The Glass Source and her studio, and she volunteers at local Portland elementary schools where art budgets have been slashed.

TECHNIQUE: Inspiration

Teri’s true art is to inspire her students. “I encourage
students to try everything and experiment,” rather than
just doing what they’re told. She wants students to get in
the kiln, see what works and what doesn’t, to try different
anneal and hold times. To learn by doing.

SKUTT KILN: The GM1414 with Lid Lifter

Teri has 3 GM1414s, “It’s a great classroom kiln.” The Lid Lifter saves wear and tear on her back, and lets students get in the kiln without wear and tear on the lid. She also loves the GlassMaster controller—beginners can access her programs, advanced students can set their own.
